iPad tablets with their iOS are the leaders, but fans of other operating systems pay attention to alternative models. OnePlus Pad debuted in the middle price segment niche, which is a worthy alternative to Apple's Android-based products. This tablet features a good display, powerful "iron", a large battery and a reliable "assembly".

OnePlus Pad comes in a solid white and red cardboard packaging featuring an image of the tablet’s back and part of its display. The kit includes a red USB-C cable.

Design

OnePlus made its first tablet thin (only 6.5 mm) and sturdy. The aluminum body is lightweight (552 g), but it is very solid – a great companion for mobile use and portability. The corners are rounded, so the tablet lies comfortably in the hand, but for safe use, for example, on the street, it is advisable to purchase a case.

The back side with a touch-sensitive surface is finished in an emerald color and has a textured radial pattern around the large main lens.

Interfaces and audio

Every detail of the tablet is carefully thought out: on the left side, there is the power button and two of the four speakers. On the right side, there is a USB-C connector and two other speakers.

Above, there are volume keys, below – magnetic connectors for keyboard connection, although it has to be purchased separately. On the back side from above – a large camera module.

Horizontal orientation is the main one, because holding the tablet vertically may accidentally cover the main camera module with the left hand.

Four speakers with Dolby Atmos support create clear and immersive sound.

Display

The front panel of the tablet is protected by durable 2.5D glass. The 6.7mm thick bezels are just right for your thumbs when holding the device.

The 11.61″ display with a resolution of 2,800 × 2,000 pixels is equipped with an IPS LCD panel. The refresh rate is 144 Hz. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision technologies are also provided; color rendering and contrast are at a high level. Its brightness indoors is quite sufficient, but outside in sunny weather it may not be enough.

Among others specifications, the OnePlus Pad stands out with 7:5 aspect ratio. Moreover, this is the first tablet in the world with such proportions. This unique aspect ratio allows for more content to be displayed on the screen in vertical orientation, making it convenient for tasks such as web browsing and working with documents and tables.

Performance

The tablet features a powerful 8-core Dimensity 9000 processor and 8 GB of RAM, ensuring high performance and quick system response. The volume of built-in memory is 128 GB – quite enough space for storing files, photos and videos.

Operating system

OnePlus runs on Android 13.1 with OnePlus' OxygenOS interface. This provides the user not only with the extensive capabilities of Android, but also with additional specifications optimized for the OnePlus tablet.

The "Display size" function allows user to choose the display format for those applications that do not support full-screen mode.

Camera

The main 13 MP camera is complemented by autofocus and a flash. 4K video recording (30 fps) is available. The front camera (8 MP) allows for video recording at a maximum quality of 1080p at 30 fps. The software is intuitive: change modes, multiple options, AI activation, zoom, HDR.

You can also take pictures of something important on the go, capture documents in digital format or just "play" with different modes, such as:

selfie with bokeh effect;
night mode;
panorama;
slow motion.

Autonomy

You will not have to charge the device every day. With a powerful battery of 9,510 mAh, the tablet will work for an extended period without recharging, making it optimal for traveling or long work sessions.

Conclusion

OnePlus tablet successfully combines an impressive design, powerful technical "stuffing" and optimization for productive use. As for the disadvantages, there is no option to expand the storage capacity. However, for those looking for an alternative to the iPad or other Android tablets in the mid-range price segment, the OnePlus Pad can be a great choice.
